The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) is set to launch investigations into the expenses involved and construction of the ‘Colombo Lotus Tower’, said the Committee Chairman MP Sunil Handunnetti.
Accordingly, it has been decided to summon the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) and other institutions that have been involved in the construction of the Lotus Tower, said the Chairman.
The Chairman said that the first investigation into the Lotus Tower had been carried out back in 2014.
A report prepared by the Auditor General has been submitted to the Parliament on 01.09.2010 which indicates that the Lotus Tower had been monitored from design to completion, he further said.
Handunnetti stated that COPE committee members Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe and Minister Rauff Hakeem agreed to a proposal that date should be fixed for the COPE committee to be convened over the matter.
