Man critically injured in attempt to pull apart mortar bullet

A person has been critically injured after a mortar bullet exploded when he tried to pull it apart at an old ironware collection store at Silawatta Model Village in Mullaitivu.

Reportedly, the victim is the 42-year-old owner of the business place.

Further investigations have recovered 3 more mortar bullets and 4 kg of explosives at the victim’s home.

The 69-year-old mother of the businessman and a 39-year-old brother has been arrested in connection with the incident.

They will be presented before the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court today (09).

Mullaitivu police have launched further investigations into the matter.
