CSE’s ASPI records second biggest drop in history

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has dropped by 221.24 points today (10), marking the second biggest drop in a single day in history.
The ASPI has closed at 5121.91 points and this is a decline of 4.14% in comparison to the previous trading day.
Back on the 12th of October 2010, the ASPI of the Colombo Stock Exchange recorded its biggest drop in history, with a record drop by 300.59 points.
In the meantime, regular trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange was temporarily halted for 30 minutes from 9.42 am to 10.12 am this morning (10) as S&P SL20 index dropped by 5% during the trading session. However, regular trading at the CSE recommenced at 10.12 am.
Total turnover for the day was marked at Rs. 1,346 million.
