Gazette postponing election issued

The official gazette notification on the postponement of the General Election 2020 has been issued yesterday (21).

The Extraordinary Gazette stated that the decision has been taken due to the Covid -19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.

It further notified that the Election Commission will appoint a day coming after fourteen days from the 30th day of April 2020 as the day for the taking of the poll.

The date of election will be notified by a Gazette Notification in due course, reads the Gazette.
