‘Afghanistan A’ have defeated ‘Sri Lanka A’ by 7 wickets in the final of the Emerging T20 Asia Cup 2024, and with that, the nation gets a hand on their first-ever continental title.
With the win, they are now the inaugural champions of the T20 format of Emerging Asia Cup.
‘Afghanistan A’ looked comfortable throughout the match, as ‘Sri Lanka A’ failed to put on any sort of pressure on them, be it with their batting, or bowling.
Upon electing to bat first, Nuwanidu Fernando’s side were off to a horrendous start, as they were reduced to 15/4 inside 5 overs, and only Sahan Arachchige looked comfortable out there, as his heroic 64 off 47 guided the side past the 100-run mark.
‘Sri Lanka A’ ended their innings at 133/7, with Bilal Sami (3) and Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar (2) being the only bowlers with wickets to their name.
In reply, ‘Afghanistan A’ chased down the total within 18.1 overs, with Sediqullah Atal remaining unbeaten on 55 to anchor the chase in the final.
