The final decision regarding the Asia Cup 2025 will be made by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) during its meeting scheduled to take place in Dhaka between July 25 and 26.

According to Indian media reports, the Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to kick off on September 5, with the final set for September 21. One of the biggest clashes of the tournament — India vs Pakistan — is expected to take place on September 7, with a potential rematch likely on September 14.

BCCI waiting for government’s approval

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still waiting for approval from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to play against Pakistan, amid recent diplomatic tensions.
In Asia Cup 2025, the tournament is likely to follow the Super Fours format.

The Super Fours format is a stage-based structure used in multi-nation tournaments like the Asia Cup, allowing the top-performing teams to face each other once again after the group stage.

Initially, the six participating teams are divided into two groups of three. Each team plays the others in its group once. The top two teams from each group then qualify for the Super Fours.

In the Super Fours stage, these four teams compete in a round-robin format, where each team plays three more matches, one against each of the other qualified sides. The teams are ranked based on points earned, and the top two teams from this stage advance to the final.
