Royal College Colombo claimed the prestigious Bradby Shield with an aggregate score of 18-13 despite Trinity College Kandy winning the second leg 08-03 at the Royal Complex in Colombo this evening (06).

The low-scoring game saw both sets of forwards tussling for supremacy while place kickers were well off the mark.

Trinity opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the game to reduce the overall Bradby deficit to just five points.

However, the kickable conversation was fluffed by Kevin Weerakoon.

Both teams failed to add to the tally in the next 30 minutes of the second leg of the 79th Bradby Shield.

Trinity led 05-00 at lemons.

In the second half, Trinity came out strongly, but the Royalists were equally impressive with their defence.

Shan Althaf joined in the party by putting over a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game to take Trinity towards touching distance of the Bradby tally.

Royal, however, put over a penalty of their own in the 64th minute of the game to maintain a five-point cushion.

The dying stages of the game saw both Royal and Trinity using the high-ball to gain territory, but neither managed to cross either side of the line.

When Referee Jaco Brouwer blew the final whistle, Royal had done enough to reclaim the Bradby despite losing the second leg 03-08.

Royal won the first leg in Kandy 15-05 a fortnight ago and secured the 79th Bradby Shield with an aggregate score of 18-13.
