Sri Lanka suffered a shocking batting collapse in the second T20I of their tour of Zimbabwe, being bowled out for just 80 runs in 17.4 overs at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

Opting to bat, Sri Lanka never found momentum as Zimbabwe’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals.

Brad Evans (3/15) and Sikandar Raza (3/12) led the attack with three wickets each, while Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Sean Williams chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.

Only Kamil Mishara (20 off 20) and skipper Charith Asalanka (18 off 23) managed to reach double figures with some resistance.

Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis (1) and opener Pathum Nissanka (8) fell cheaply early on, triggering a top-order collapse. From there, Sri Lanka never recovered, with six batters failing to score more than single digits.

Zimbabwe’s fielding unit was equally sharp, highlighted by a brilliant run-out from Tinotenda Maposa to dismiss Dushan Hemantha.

Sri Lanka’s innings ended at 80 all out, their batters undone by the discipline and variations of Zimbabwe’s attack.

With just 81 runs required to win, Zimbabwe now have a golden opportunity to level the three-match T20I series.
