Mohammad Nabi slammed a 22-ball 60 to help Afghanistan score 169/8 from 20 overs in match 11 of the Asia Cup 2025 on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
Nabi smashed 5 sixers in the final over bowled by Dunith Wellalage to guide Afghanistan to a formidable total.
Nuwan Thushara was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka with 4/18 from his four overs against Afghanistan
Earlier, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan won the toss and opted to bat first against Charith Asalanka’s Sri Lanka in match 11 of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
The Lankans are yet to be beaten in the tournament, while the latter has won one game and lost the other.
In their opening game against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka registered a thumping win; however, against Hong Kong China, they did falter a bit in getting over the line.
While Pathum Nissanka has been in prime form, the rest of the Sri Lankan middle order is yet to make an impact in the tournament. However, the bowling has looked sorted.
As for Afghanistan, if they have to qualify for the next round, it is a must-win. They have played some good cricket in the tournament; however, the group they are in is such that they cannot afford slip-ups.
