Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and put India into bat in the curtain raiser for the 2025 Women’s World Cup in Guwahati.

At the toss, Chamari Athapaththu said that the potential impact of dew later on played a role in their decision to bowl first, along with the fact that she’s confident in her bowling unit to do the job.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said she too would have bowled, but looked at batting first as an opportunity to put up a good total and set the tone for the game.

India have a fully fit squad to choose from and have gone with three spinners and two seamers. Renuka Singh misses out with India opting for Kranti Goud and Amanjot Kaur.

Variety is the name of the game for Sri Lanka with two offspinners, two left-arm spinners, and two pacers to choose from. Udeshika Prabodhani, whose last ODI was in August 2024, has returned to the XI.
