Brilliant half-century from left hander Hasini Perera helped Sri Lanka post 202 in 48.4 overs against Bangladesh in the 21st match of the 2025 Women’s World Cup in Mumbai.
Sri Lanka after opting to bat lost opener Vishmi Gunaratne in the very first delivery of the innings.
Perera then joined captain Chamari Athapaththu and managed to build a healthy partnership in the power-play overs.
The pair put on 72 runs for the second wicket before skipper Athapaththu was dismissed for a 43-ball 46.
Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, Perera continued to milk the bowlers and notched up her maiden ODI half century.
She went on to score 85 off 99 deliveries. Nilakshika Silva also scored 37 in 38 balls but the rest of the players failed to contribute to the total.
For Bangladesh, leg-spinner Shorna Akter finished with figures of 3/27 in her 10 overs.
Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka is yet to win a game in this year’s World Cup despite playing in familiar conditions.
