Romario Shepherd (52*) and Jason Holder (49) forged an 89-run stand for the eighth wicket to power West Indies to 176/8 from 20 overs in the T20 World Cup Super 8 Group 1 match against South Africa.
The Proteas had won the toss and opted to field, a decision that seemed to work early on in the innings. West Indies were restricted to 52/4 from the first six overs, but Shepherd and Holder changed the complexion of the innings. West Indies were further down to 83/7, but Shepherd and Holder never gave up.
Lungi Ngidi, with figures of 3/30, was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa. Kagiso Rabada (2/22) and Corbin Bosch (2/31) were the other wicket-takers for South Africa, who need 177 runs to win.
