Kingswood College ends 68-year wait with historic victory

Kingswood College, Kandy made history at the 119th Battle of the Maroons, defeating Dharmaraja College, Kandy by 148 runs to claim their first ‘Big Match’ annual cricket encounter victory since 1958.
After posting 226 in the first innings, Kingswood took a 66-run lead by bowling the Rajans out for 160. A bold second-innings declaration at 248/4 set a target that proved too steep for Dharmaraja, who crumbled for 166 in their final chase.
The clinical performance ended nearly seven decades of waiting, bringing the T.B. Tennakoon Trophy back to Randles Hill in dominant fashion.
