Paceman Matheesha Pathirana has successfully passed the fitness test conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

Accordingly, Pathirana is set to depart for India to play in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

He had been away from cricket for a short period after sustaining an injury during the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament.

Current reports confirm that Matheesha Pathirana has now regained the required fitness to return to competitive cricket.

Therefore, he will represent the Kolkata Knight Riders in this year’s IPL tournament.

It was reported a number of players including Wanindu Hasaranga, Nuwan Thushara and Pathirana did not receive the ‘No Objection Certificate’ from Sri Lanka Cricket after failing to clear the fitness trials.
