Poker star Phil Hellmuth extended his record among all-time card-playing greats by winning his 14th career bracelet at the World Series of Poker early Tuesday morning.
Hellmuth won the $10,000 buy-in razz championship event, pocketing $271,105 while moving four WSOP wins ahead of iconic winners Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey.
Razz is a variation of seven-card stud poker.
After the victory, Hellmuth said he plans to give the bracelet to the family of late Silicon Valley entrepreneur Dave Goldberg, a friend of Hellmuth’s who died last month in a treadmill accident while he was on vacation in Mexico with his wife, Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg.
Hellmuth’s lifetime World Series of Poker winnings now total nearly $12.8 million. - ESPN
