Sri Lanka bowl first, Hasaranga debuts

Angelo Mathews won the toss and chose to bowl first in Galle, citing a preference to chase in case afternoon rains force a Duckworth-Lewis-Stern result. Though his team won the first match chasing, Graeme Cremer said he would have batted first anyway, had he won the toss. Like the surface for the first match, this pitch was expected to be full of runs.
Both Lasith Malinga, and Kusal Mendis - whom SLC had said were battling influenza on Saturday - had recovered sufficiently to play this game, but Sri Lanka made three changes to their attack nevertheless. Legspinning allrounder Wanidu Hasaranga made his international debut at 19 years of age, replacing seam-bowling allrounder Lahiru Madushanka. Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, and left-arm wristspinner Lakshan Sandakan also played, in place of Amila Aponso and Akila Dananjaya. - ESPN
