Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka, who is currently awaiting a court verdict on a case of alleged sexual assault in Australia, has been listed in the players’ draft for the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League.

Accordingly, Gunathilaka was listed at a base price of USD 40,000, amongst 447 other foreign cricketers.

The likes of several other Sri Lankan cricket stars including Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando and Angelo Mathews were also seen in the players’ draft, listed for base prices varying from USD 20,000 – USD 80,000.

The hearing of the case against the Sri Lankan cricketer over alleged sexual assault concluded on 21 Sep. before the New South Wales District Court, and Judge Sarah Huggett is set deliver her verdict on 28 September, Australian media confirmed.

Danushka Gunathilaka stood a four-day trial at the Downing Centre District Court, after pleading not guilty to one charge of sexual assault without consent.

The charge relates to an incident on 02 November 2022, when it is alleged the 32-year-old had removed a condom during sexual intercourse – known as stealthing – with a woman at her home in Sydney’s east.
