Rumesh Tharanga wins gold at Asian Throwing Championships 2025

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga has secured the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw event at the Asian Throwing Championships 2025 which is being held in South Korea.

He secured first place in the event by throwing a distance of 82.05 meters.

Japan’s Tatsuhito Naganuma (78.60m) took home the silver medal while Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan (77.43m) placed third in the event. 

Earlier this month, Tharanga set a new national record during the first round of the Men’s Javelin Throw event at the World Athletics Continental Tour – Bronze in India, with a distance of 86.50m.

The Asian Throwing Championship 2025, is being held in South Korea from August 21 to 22.
