Apple iPhone 17 series launch date tipped for September 9

The anticipated launch of the iPhone 17 series is set for September 9.
Rumours suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will replace the iPhone 16 Plus, which had disappointing sales. However, there is uncertainty about the chipset for the Air model. Will it feature a Pro SoC or not?
Apple’s Pro models traditionally use the Pro chipset, but since the Air isn’t a Pro model, it’s unclear if it will share the same chip as the standard iPhone 17. A recent rumour from China suggests that the Air will indeed have an A19 Pro SoC. However, there’s a twist.
Chipset Differences
The A19 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Air won’t be identical to those in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. The Air’s version will have a slightly less powerful GPU, with one fewer core than its counterparts. While the Pro and Pro Max models will boast six GPU cores, the Air will feature only five.
Additionally, reports indicate that the display quality of the iPhone 17 Air might not match that of the iPhone 17 Pro. The thickness of the Air is speculated to be between 5.65mm and 5.7mm.
Conflicting Rumours
This new information contradicts earlier rumours from July, which claimed that both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air would share the same A19 chip. The accuracy of these conflicting reports remains uncertain.
As we await official confirmation from Apple, these rumours continue to fuel speculation about what features and specifications each model in the iPhone 17 lineup will offer.
