A tense situation prevailed at the Moratuwa Municipal Council premises today (26) when the Moratuwa Deputy Mayor Ajith Pushpakumara, a suspect in the murder of Chief Buddhist monk of the Sunandopanandaramaya Temple, arrived to attend the council meeting. Hundreds of persons including Buddhist monks surrounded the prison bus and protested against him attending council sessions. The Deputy Mayor was therefore taken back to prison.
