President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in response to a letter, has invited the parents of the four Peradeniya University students who are under custody for a discussion this evening (Oct 18) at 4.00pm, says the youth organization Tharunyata Hetak.

The organization yesterday wrote to President Rajapaksa to consider the plight of the students who were taken into custody regarding the incident during Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake’s visit to the Peradeniya University recently.

Tharunyata Hetak urged the President to look at the issue compassionately and grant relief to the youths as their future may be jeopardized by the detention.
