Dubai: A bus driver faces three months in jail after a court yesterday incriminated him of sexually molesting a female passenger on board a Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) bus.

The 31-year-old Sri Lankan RTA bus driver claimed when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance that he pacified the weeping passenger when he touched her shoulder and denied molesting her.

“The accused, K.R., will spend three months in jail followed by deportation,” said Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad when he pronounced the judgment.

Prosecutors accused K.R. of sexual molestation by touching the Filipina saleswoman’s private parts in Al Khawaneej.

“What happened is that she took the wrong RTA bus … and when I saw her crying, I patted on her shoulder. I am innocent and didn’t intend to molest her,” defended the accused.

According to the bill of charges, prosecutors said K.R. groped the 23-year-old saleswoman.

“I took the RTA bus heading to work. While I was the sole passenger on the bus, the defendant pulled over in Al Khawaneej and approached me … he then placed his hand on my shoulder. Then he grabbed my breast and moved his hand down towards the belly and my backside. I tried to push him away, but he continued doing so. He only stopped after I cried. Then he moved the bus and dropped me near Al Arabi Centre … I informed my boss who immediately reported the police,” the girl claimed to prosecutors. – (GulfNews)
