Immediate investigation into student suicide

The police have been directed by the Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa Province, Mahipala Herath to conduct an immediate investigation into the death of a student from the Mahapallegama Senanayake Vidyalaya in Dedigama yesterday (March 29).

 

The student had allegedly committed suicide after being punished severely by the Principal of the said school after which the Principal was arrested by the Dedigama police.

 

The Minister has requested the police to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident while Ada Derana learns through the Provincial Education Secretary Herath Kularatne that the Kegalle Director of Education is due to submit a report of this today (March 30).
