MP Thilanga Sumathipala says he will not contest for the Presidency of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Several individuals belonging to Sumathipala’s group had previously handed in nominations for other posts in the SLC while Thilanga Sumathipala was scheduled to submit his nomination at a auspicious time today (19) morning.
However speaking during a press conference today the parliamentarian stated that he changed his decision to contest the SLC election and that remaining members of his group will contest for posts in the election, scheduled for January 3, 2012.
A former President of the SLC, Sumathipala on November 26 officially announced his candidacy for the position as SLC President alongside Upali Dharmadasa.
Meanwhile former SLC Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga says he will ‘independently’ contest for the post of Secretary in the upcoming election.
