Ports Authority media office sealed off?

President of the All Ceylon Port General Employees’ Union, Chandrasiri Mahagamage, claims that the Media Office of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority has been sealed off by the relevant authorities.
He stated that the office has been sealed by the special investigative unit of the Ports Authority alleging that a certain financial irregularity had taken place.
However, Mahagamage says that they suspect the actual reason for the move could be the pressure exerted by Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga over an issue pertaining to the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) election.
He said that the head of the said media office currently serves as the Chairman of the Janasathu Sewa Cricket Union and that he was involved in the election.
Ranatunga contested for the Vice Presidency of SLC, however failed to secure enough votes.
Mahagamage said they would instigate action with regard to the sealing of the media office and declared that they would not allow Minister Ranatunga ‘play cricket in the ports authority’.
However, issuing a statement today, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority denied claims that the main office of the communications unit has been sealed off.
