STF heroes honored for bravery…

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon felicitated and awarded prizes to the Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel who contributed to the rescue of two children who were taken hostage by their own father armed with a hand grenade in Jalthara, Hanwella area over a family dispute recently, following a nine-hour operation.

The felicitation was held under the patronage of the Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles, praising the relevant officers for their contribution in safe rescue of the two children regardless of the risk to their own lives, and without causing any loss of property or life.

Accordingly, the 09 officers were awarded Rs. 750,000 from the Police Reward Fund and two IGP commendations.
