Police open fire, lorry topples killing two

Two persons have been killed at Dickwella when Police opened fire at a lorry which had not heeded the warning to stop. When fired at, the vehicle had run off the road and toppled, killing the two persons, according to Beliatta Police.

 

The vehicle had been transporting cattle without a permit, say Police.

 

When the vehicle had not heeded the warning to stop, police had given chase and opened fire at Randanpala in the Dickwella area early this morning (March 21). Some of the cattle in the lorry too had been killed when the vehicle toppled, added Police.
