Dhananjaya named Test captain for Afghan series

Sri Lankan all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva has been named as the Test captain for Sri Lanka’s upcoming series against Afghanistan, while Kusal Mendis has been appointed as the Vice Captain.

Accordingly, de Silva will serve as the captain for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, which is part of the home series which will be held during January – February.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Selection Committee, Upul Tharanga, at a special press briefing held this afternoon (03 Jan.).

The series, which will be played on the heels of Zimbabwe’s Tour of Sri Lanka, will consist of one Test match, three ODIs and three T20 matches.
