The Homagama Magistrate’s Court has imposed a foreign travel ban on the owner of a cab involved in a tragic road accident at the Meegoda junction that resulted in the death of six individuals.
The order was issued after the Meegoda Police submitted a report to court today (02), over the incident in which a group of people standing in a queue at a Vesak dansala were struck by a cab.
Police have also launched investigations to arrest the owner of the vehicle and another individual who fled the scene at the time of the accident.
Three police teams have been deployed to apprehend the suspects.
The accident took place on May 31 at the Meegoda junction, when a cab veered into a crowd waiting in line at a Vesak dansala, resulting in six fatalities and eight others being injured.
