‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ launched....

The national tree planting campaign ‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ jointly led by the Sri Lanka Army, the Expressway Operation Maintenance and Management Division along with Manusath Derana was launched this morning (23) at 8.30 a.m.

The campaign is themed “Let’s think like children born from mother earth for the sake of nature.”

Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake inaugurate the campaign as the Chief Guest today from near the Athurugiriya Interchange of the expressway.

Concurrent to this, tree planting activities are to be carried out at Kottawa, Welipenna, Kahathuduwa, Dodangoda and Godagama interchanges.

This national tree planting campaign was launched with the intention of building a greener Sri Lanka and is planned to be carried out along the Southern Expressway, from Kadawatha to Matara, for 157km, with the contribution of Manusath Derana, the CSR initiative of TV Derana.
