Kidnapped child rescued unharmed - Police

The preschool child who was kidnapped on Wednesday in the Mundalama area has been rescued, police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana confirmed.

He stated that the three-year-old girl was rescued and is unharmed while the kidnappers were also arrested following the ransom transaction.

A couple, who are said to be an uncle and aunt of the child, were chased down from the point of the transaction and apprehended in the Pallama area by a police team, the spokesman said.

A motorbike was also taken into custody along with them, he added.

The child was kidnapped from a preschool in Mundalama on February 22 at around 12 noon by a man claiming to be her uncle.
