3 dead, over 40 injured after bus falls down precipice in Laggala

Three people have been killed, while several others were left injured after a private passenger bus collided head-on with a van and toppled down a precipice in the Elawanakanda area of Laggala, Matale this evening (14).

Police Media Division said that a total of 42 individuals who sustained injuries during the accident have been hospitalized, whereas three of them succumbed to their injuries upon admission to the hospital.

Police said that among the deceased individuals were two persons who were travelling on the bus and another who was on the van at the time of the accident. 

A bus which was travelling from Colombo to Wasgamuwa via Laggala for an excursion had reportedly met with the accident.

Wilgamuwa Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
