Discussion held on establishing RMIT Sri Lanka Innovation Hub

A special discussion has been held at the Presidential Secretariat between the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and officials of the Presidential Secretariat, with the objective of raising awareness and facilitating the establishment of an RMIT Innovation Hub in Sri Lanka.
The discussion was organized in coordination with the National Initiative for Research and Development Commercialization (NIRDC), the President’s Media Division said.
The proposed RMIT Sri Lanka Innovation Hub will strengthen the implementation of existing Joint PhD programmes while creating opportunities to address national challenges through research and development (R&D) solutions aligned with Sri Lanka’s research policies and national priorities. The outcomes of this process are expected to be shared with the wider public, the PMD noted.
The Innovation Hub is also expected to: Enhance joint doctoral programmes and integrate international R&D expertise with local research efforts, Expand collaboration between RMIT, Sri Lankan universities, industries and government institutions, Provide innovative technological solutions to support business objectives and increase innovation commercialization, Offer international access and training opportunities to local scientists, researchers, students and others engaged in research and innovation and Contribute to Sri Lanka’s economic, scientific and technological advancement through new investments, funding and research projects, the PMD added further.
