Dr. Rosh Jalagge, reportedly the first Sri Lankan to own a private long-range jet, arrived at the Ratmalana International Airport aboard his personal Gulfstream G-V aircraft.

Dr. Jalagge, a former student of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, is a Sri Lankan billionaire based in Australia, where he owns several businesses in the healthcare sector.

The Gulfstream G-V aircraft has a flying range of approximately 12,000 kilometres, allowing it to undertake long-distance international flights.

The aircraft’s arrival marks another milestone in the history of private aviation in Sri Lanka. In the 1980s, businessman Upali Wijewardene purchased a Learjet 35A, regarded as the country’s first privately owned aircraft. That aircraft had a range of approximately 4,000 kilometres.

Dr. Jalagge’s Gulfstream G-V has around three times the range of the Learjet 35A.
