Principal arrested over photographing postal ballot paper

Police have arrested a school principal in the Mullaitivu area for allegedly photographing a postal ballot paper after casting his vote. 

According to the police, the principal, who served as the certification officer at the Mullaitivu Education Office, was found taking a photograph of the ballot paper while casting postal vote at the Mullaitivu Education Office on September 6.

Officials from the Election Commission who observed the principal photographing the ballot paper have subsequently checked his mobile phone. 

Following the incident, Mullaitivu Police were notified, and the principal was arrested on charges of violating election laws, the police stated.
