Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa departed Sri Lanka for Singapore early this morning (16) for medical treatment.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa departed Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at around 1:10 a.m. aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ-469, bound for Singapore.
She was accompanied by a relative.
Rajapaksa had been admitted to a private hospital in Colombo yesterday (15) after reportedly falling ill.
She was subsequently taken from the hospital directly to the airport in the early hours of this morning.
Reports indicate that, while she was on board the aircraft and shortly before its departure, police informed her that she was required to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on September 24.
