
Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been directed to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on September 24 to provide a statement regarding the Siriliya Saviya account, police have clarified.
Police said the FCID has resumed investigations into the account and that a notice was issued requesting her presence on September 24.
The notice was initially delivered to her residence, Carlton House in Tangalle. However, she was reportedly receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo at the time.
After completing her treatment yesterday, Shiranthi Rajapaksa travelled directly from the hospital to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to depart for Singapore.
FCID officers reportedly served a notice at the airport, informing her that she is required to appear before the division on September 24.
According to police, the notice was accepted on her behalf by a relative.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa subsequently departed for Singapore in the early hours of today (16) as a regular passenger.
