Bribery Commission to probe complaint filed by Chaminda Kularatne

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has decided to probe a complaint filed by suspended Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne against the Speaker of House, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

The complaint was lodged with the Bribery Commission against the Speaker on February 02.

Following deliberation of the complaint the Bribery Commission has decided to formally investigate the matter in the coming days.

According to suspended Secretary General of Parliament and Chief of Staff, Chaminda Kularatne, the complaint was lodged in connection with the Speaker’s alleged corrupt activities.

Meanwhile, the Bribery Commission has also decided to investigate a complaint filed directly against suspended Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne.

Deputy Secretary General Chaminda Kularatne was suspended with effect from January 23.

The decision to suspend Kularatne, was taken by the Parliament Staff Advisory Committee (SAC), chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

The decision is reportedly linked to certain alleged irregularities concerning his appointment to the position.
