Bread price to increase by Rs. 10 from midnight

The price of a 450-gram loaf of bread will be increased by Rs. 10 with effect from midnight today (31), the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association announced.
President of the Association M.K. Jayawardena said the decision was taken following a Rs. 17 increase in the price of a kilogram of wheat flour by wheat flour importers on August 29.
He said the price increase was necessary due to the rise in the cost of wheat flour.
Meanwhile, the association has decided to revise the prices of other bakery products as well, while ensuring that consumers are not unfairly affected by the increases.
