The renewal of firearm licences for the year 2027 will commence tomorrow (01), the Ministry of Defence has announced.
According to the Defence Ministry, all individuals and institutions holding firearm licences are required to renew their licences before December 31, 2026.
The Ministry warned that possession of a firearm without a valid licence is a punishable offence under Section 22 of the Firearms Ordinance. Legal action may therefore be taken against firearm owners who fail to renew their licences by the stipulated deadline.
Meanwhile, private security agencies that fail to renew their registration during the period from September 1 to December 31, 2026, will be subject to late fees or possible legal action.
The Defence Ministry has urged the general public and relevant institutions to complete the necessary renewals within the specified period to avoid penalties and other legal consequences.
