Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves rise to USD 6.9 billion in August

Sri Lanka’s official foreign reserve assets increased 4.6% to USD 6.905 billion in August 2026, from USD 6.6 billion in July, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said.
The latest foreign reserve figure includes proceeds from the People’s Bank of China swap arrangement, according to the Central Bank.
The increase represents a rise of around USD 305 million in Sri Lanka’s official foreign reserves during August.
The growth in foreign reserves comes as Sri Lanka continues efforts to strengthen its external financial position and rebuild foreign exchange buffers.
