Former SLAF Commander Donald Perera questioned over controversial MiG deal

UPDATE (3:52 p.m.) Former Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera has left the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) after recording a statement in connection with the ongoing investigation into the controversial MiG aircraft deal.


Former Air Force Commander Perera appeared before the FCID pursuant to a summons issued as part of the investigation.
 


Former Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera is currently recording a statement with the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) as part of an investigation into the controversial MiG fighter aircraft deal.

 

Former Air Force Commander Perera was summoned by the FCID to provide information regarding the procurement and financial arrangements surrounding the purchase of MiG fighter aircraft by Sri Lanka.

 

He was summoned as part of an ongoing investigation into the controversial transaction.

 

Meanwhile, former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa also provided a statement to the FCID in connection with the same investigation.

 

Rajapaksa arrived at the FCID on September 11 after being summoned to provide information regarding the MiG fighter jet purchase transaction.

 

According to an Ada Derana reporter, the former President remained at the FCID for several hours while providing his statement to investigators.
