2027 Appropriation Bill receives Attorney General’s clearance

The Appropriation Bill for the 2027 financial year has received clearance from the Attorney General, paving the way for its publication in the Government Gazette and subsequent presentation to parliament.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to publish the Bill in the Gazette and thereafter submit it to parliament for approval.
The Bill was drafted by the Legal Draftsman following Cabinet approval granted at its meeting held on June 30, 2026, to proceed with its preparation.
The Cabinet proposal was presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, and was approved by the Cabinet.
