eCollege Lanka, part of Pearson PLC, the world’s leading learning company that includes the Financial Times, Penguin and Pearson Education, will now be known as ‘Pearson Lanka’.

Pearson Lanka is a leading provider of software development and remote infrastructure management services to multiple technology groups across Pearson. Its 160 member team based out of the Colombo office at Orion City is a core part of Pearson’s global Learning Technologies organization, and services technology teams across North America, Europe and Australia.

Speaking on this development, Nalina Wijesundara, General Manager and Director, Pearson Lanka said, “This change reflects our growing involvement in software engineering at Pearson across multiple technology platforms and geographies. Being a part of Pearson gives us access to world class technology, knowledge services and work environments that enable us to roll-out innovative learning platforms that support millions of students. We are confident that rebranding will make us more noticeable in the marketplace among the stakeholder group and help our recruitment drive as we plan to expand in the next 12 months”.

Vance Allen, SVP Core Platforms and Director of Pearson Lanka, said “This venture began seven years ago and has now become one of our most amazing success stories. Code written in Sri Lanka has helped millions of students learn across the globe. We are pleased with this name change. It reflects Sri Lanka’s growing role across Pearson”.

With this development Pearson Lanka will look to attract technical talent for its Sri Lanka operations and also explore local business opportunities that might exist, as part of the larger plan to grow operations in Sri Lanka.
